Home Water Report

Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this site pay us a commission. Here is exactly how that works — and the two rules that keep recommendations honest.

Effective June 12, 2026.

Home Water Report is free to use and carries no paywalls. We fund the site through affiliate links: when you click certain product links — mainly water filters — and make a purchase, the retailer pays us a commission. You pay the same price either way.

Our two rules

  • Certification first. We only recommend lead-reduction filters whose NSF/ANSI 53 or NSF/ANSI 58 certification we can point to. The certification comes from NSF International's testing — not from us, and not from the manufacturer's marketing.
  • No pay-for-placement. No brand pays to appear in the risk check's recommendations or in our guides, and commission rates do not change which product the tool suggests for your situation.

How affiliate links look

Affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page code, and pages containing them carry a disclosure line. If we ever review a product we received for free, the review will say so explicitly.

Lead-generation

If we later connect homeowners with licensed plumbers for service-line replacement quotes, we may be paid for that referral. Any such feature will be clearly labelled at the point of use, and this page will be updated first.
